The Ethics CLE, Illuminating Legal Limericks: Part II (Conflicts of Interest), will be presented by Tom Spahn and will address identifying the client (in corporate and insurance contexts); basic conflicts principles (including duties to prospective clients, thrust-upon conflicts, and adversity to former clients); types of adversity
(including business, financial, and “material limitation” conflicts); and conflicts between clients and lawyers (including gifts from clients, settlement practice restrictions, representing unpopular clients, lawyers’ settlement of clients’ claims against them, and prospective consents).
