The mission of Legal Services of Northern Virginia is to provide free legal assistance to elderly, disabled or low-income individuals and families who face the loss of a critical need such as personal safety, income, housing, medical benefits, education or family stability. LSNV seeks to provide equal access to the civil justice system for those residents of the City of Alexandria, the Counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William and the cities and towns adjacent to those counties, who are unable to afford private legal counsel.

Staff and volunteers provide legal advice, brief service, and representation in administrative hearings and in court, as well as community legal education, and advocacy before local and state governmental entities, all without charge to our clients.
In order for us to determine whether we can help you , you must be screened for eligibility. During this brief screening, a member of our Intake team will gather demographic information, including household size, income and asset information, conduct a required check for conflicts of interest, and get a brief description of your problem. There are three ways to apply for our services:
1. In person: Applications for assistance are accepted in person at all of our offices from 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. and from 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. Monday - Friday.
2. By phone: We also accept requests for assistance by phone (703-778-6800) from 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., and from 1:30 pm. -3:30 p.m. Monday - Friday.
3. Online application: To expedite the intake process, you can start by using our Online Application.
